Cloudburst hit the state of Uttarakhand 15 kilometers from Pauri's Paithani district. With heavy rainfall, Mandakini River was overflowing. In places such as Uttarkashi, Pauri, Tehri and Balakot cloudburst affected and inundated several areas. As per media reports, the rubbles entered houses and shops of Pithoragarh and Betalghat. Huge loss of property has been reported in these regions. However, loss of life has not been reported until now.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance as an upper air system was moving across the northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Its associated induced cyclonic circulation developed over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining regions. Both these systems moved northeastwards. In fact, the presence of an upper air trough along the Western Himalayas resulted in the moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal since last few days.
Henceforth moderate to strong dust storm with light to moderate rain and thundershower at many places with heavy showers at few places occurred over the state of Uttarakhand during the last 24 hours. In fact, this also resulted in cloudburst at few places of Uttarakhand. Dehradun recorded heavy rain to the tune of 44 mm in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday. In the same span of time, the districts such as Tehri, Mukhteshwar, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh recorded hefty showers. Meanwhile, adjoining states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand observed only light rains.
As per weathermen, the Western Disturbance is moving away. Hence, rainfall activity will reduce over Uttarakhand. Though, light rain is expected to continue during the next 24 to 36 hours in wake of the remnants of the Western Disturbance and the presence of moisture. With these heavy rains, a significant fall in temperatures has also occurred in Uttarakhand.
