Clear weather for tomorrow in Delhi; rain likely to increase in NE

April 11, 2013 6:39 PM |

Weather in Delhi will be mostly clear tomorrow and clouds may return thereafter as another Western Disturbance (WD) is in the offing from 13th of April over Jammu & Kashmir. Chances of rain in Delhi for the moment look bleak but there will be clouds in the sky post the arrival of the Western Disturbance.

Temperatures in Delhi are above normal in spite of a drop during the last 24 hours. They would remain stable for next 24 hours to see a marginal rise thereafter. By Saturday and Sunday day temperatures in Delhi will be around 38 degrees. The night temperatures would also be above the average temperature of 21.3 degrees.

The present WD is moving away in east-northeast direction and possibly leave the region by tonight. Till then there could be rain at one or two places in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Wind conditions would change once the WD leaves, as northerly-northwesterly winds would replace the easterly-southeasterly winds.

After a brief break on 12th of April, another WD will come close to the Western Himalayan region and would affect north and northwest India for next two days starting from 13th of April.

In a day or two, the present WD over Jammu & Kashmir will reach towards northeastern states that are receiving continuous moisture feed from the southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal along the trough (region of intensified moist winds) of low pressure area. The trough runs from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Orissa.

During the next two to three days, there will be an increase in rain and one or two places will get rain in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa and Sikkim in the east and some more places in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura in northeast.

Another trough of low pressure area extends from Rajasthan to Vidarbha across Madhya Pradesh. This will give rain at a couple of places. Rain is possible at some places over Chhattisgarh due to this weak weather system in the next 24 hours.
