Chilly weather in Delhi to arrive soon

Delhi observed chilly weather on November 10 and 11 where the national capital witnessed winter chills particularly during early morning hours.

The minimum temperatures witnessed a steep drop and the mercury settled at 11.5°C. The main reason for the drop in the temperatures was the effect of cold northwesterly winds along with clear skies. However, temperatures in the capital city increased since November 12.

This rising temperature in the capital of the country is basically due to the Western Disturbance which was affecting Western Himalayas along with an induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and Punjab. Due to this weather system, the flow of cool northerly winds was restricted. Moreover, warm and moist southeasterly winds increased the minimums over Delhi.

As of now, this Western Disturbance can be seen passing eastwards, alongside, the cyclonic circulation over West Uttar Pradesh is also moving away.

Therefore, it is expected that the normal flow of northwesterly winds will once again resume and minimum temperatures of the country capital are likely to start dropping.

As per Skymet Weather, however, a gradual decrease in the minimum temperature of Delhi can be expected by November 16. The winter chill in the capital city and adjoining areas is likely to make a comeback settling the temperatures in single digit for next few days.

Hence, it is advisable for the people staying in Delhi and NCR to take out their winter gears. Setting of winter will also reduce the prevailing viral diseases including chikungunya and dengue.
