As reiterated by Skymet Weather, a feeble Western Disturbance is marked over Jammu and Kashmir. The system has already given light rain over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and some snowfall over higher reaches.
According to Skymet Weather, the affecting Western Disturbance is gradually moving eastwards, away from the state. Thus, scattered rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand and over few places over Himachal Pradesh. But since the system is not an active one, we do not expect heavy rains or snow. We can only expect on and off light rains over the Western Himalayas till tomorrow. Thereafter, weather would go dry.
In wake of this, day temperatures have already dropped by 4-5 degrees. In fact, in the coming days, we expect drop of 2-4 degrees over many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Minimum temperatures have been settling around or below the freezing point across Jammu and Kashmir, leading to extremely chilly nights. Situation is not very different in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and few parts of Uttarakhand. However, days in comparison to nights, are still better but are cold enough for heavy woolens.
However, weathermen predict that maximum temperatures would start increasing after 24 hours on account of bright sunshine. But we do not expect any respite from the chilly nights. In fact, clear sky would lead to further drop in minimum across the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
