Chhattisgarh to witness more Monsoon rains

September 2, 2016 5:26 PM |

Chhattisgarh Rains

As of September 1, Chhattisgarh is 6% below the normal mark of Monsoon rains. At present, Chhattisgarh is experiencing normal rainfall as the state has received 886.2 mm of rainfall against the normal of 946.8 mm of rains.

The cyclonic circulation which was prevailing over Andhra Pradesh Coast has moved in a westerly direction and merged with the north-south trough extending from Bihar up to Chhattisgarh in the lower levels. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough has also shifted towards the northern parts of the country.

With this, we expect rain activity to increase over the state during next 24 to 48 hours. Moderate with isolated heavy showers are likely over some parts of the state. Mainly overcast skies and at times gusty winds will prevail over the state.

In the last 24 hours, the state has received very light rains at few places. Jagdalpur received 1.1 mm of rainfall, followed by Bilaspur 0.3 mm and Pendra 0.2 mm.

Skymet Weather predicts a decrease in the rainfall activity after 48 hours. Scattered light rains with mostly dry weather are predicted over the state.
