Chhattisgarh continues to receive good Monsoon rains

Yesterday's depression over North Bay of Bengal adjoining coast of West Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. The weather system currently lay in between Digha and Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.

The system is likely to move initially in northern direction and then further towards north-northwest direction. This weather system is likely to weaken gradually.

In the last 24 hours, rain has already occurred over many parts of North Chhattisgarh with overcast sky and light rain was observed in South Chhattisgarh.

During next 24 hours, rain is likely to intensify further over most parts of Chhattisgarh with moderate to heavy spells may lash various parts of the state.

Gusty winds are expected to blow at a speed 40-60 kmph over the state during next 24 hours. Chances of extremely heavy rainfall are on the cards in parts of the state.

At present, Chhattisgarh is experiencing normal rainfall as the state has received 784.5 mm of rainfall against the normal of 785.5 mm of rains. And with more rain in offing, the rainfall figures are most likely to go in the excess category.
