Chennai weather has remained hot and humid for the past few days. While the city has not yet observed heatwave conditions, the high humidity levels, and increasing temperatures have made life difficult for the Chennaites.
For the past few days, the capital city of Tamil Nadu has been observing hot weather conditions. Temperatures have been well above the average levels. For the past few days, Chennai has been recording its maximum well above the 35-degree mark.
So much so that the maximum reached the 40-degree mark on several occasions. Only yesterday, the maximum settled at 38.5 degrees. Before that, the maximum was recorded at a whopping 40.8 degree Celsius.
These hot weather conditions can be attributed to the prolonged dry weather conditions prevailing in the city. Chennai has remained practically dry for more than a month now. Unfortunately, no rains are in sight for the capital city of Tamil Nadu in April now. Also, southerly and southwesterly winds have been blowing from the land which has increased the maximums even further.
However, now Chennai is all set to get some relief from the scorching summer heat. These weather conditions will not change due to rains. In fact, the winds will change their course. Now, southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will start blowing over the region and bring down the temperatures.
During the next few days, cooler and humid winds will keep the maximums under check. Though the relief will be short-lived, at least Chennaites can heave a sigh of relief for some time.
