In the city of Chennai this May, weather conditions have been decent which is generally sultry and warm. Due to the trough, and other coastal features including moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, Chennai has been receiving rainfall activities.
There are two main observatories, Minambakkam, which is the airport observatory and Nungambakkam the city observatory. While Minambakkam saw hardly any rains, Nungambakkam recorded a good 45 mm. The city has surpassed its monthly mean as the normal rains is at 43 mm for the month of May.
Patchy rains have been there and due to this, temperatures have been under check around 32-34 degrees Celsius. The minimum has settled at about the mid-20s.
Between today and May 6, we can expect some rainfall activity. Thereafter, there may be dry weather conditions over the city. Then, sultry weather may make a comeback.
