Chennai rains which were absent since a really long time took a front seat once again resulting in that brief period of relief for the residents of the capital city of Tamil Nadu. The last 24 hours were also not different, and parts of the city did record some light rainfall activity. However, the rains were lesser in intensity and spread as compared to the day before.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the Meenambakkam observatory recorded 1 mm of rainfall. On the other hand, dry weather was observed over the Nungambakkam observatory during the same period.

The recent rainfall activity can be attributed to the trough which was running from Southwest Bay of Bengal up to Andhra Pradesh across interior parts of Tamil Nadu as well as Karnataka. Now, this very trough is expected to shift westwards.

Thus, due to the shifting of the trough, rainfall activity is expected to take a backseat over the city of Chennai from now on. Thus, now, warm and humid weather is expected to persist over the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

With the reduction in rains, temperatures which had gone slightly down and had settled at 31.6 degrees Celsius will once again see a gradual increase resulting in discomfort over the region.
