The capital city of Chennai has been receiving on and off rain and thundershower activities since November 14. The intensity has been mainly light, barring two occasions i.e November 21 and November 24, wherein the city had received moderate showers to the tune of 10.8 mm and 22 mm respectively.
During the last 24 hours as well, the intensity was on the much lower side as only traces of rain have been recorded in Nungambakkam.
According to our meteorologists, no significant rainfall activity is likely in Chennai until tomorrow as Northeast Monsoon has once again turned subdued. However, the southern districts of Tamil Nadu would continue to get moderate showers for another 24 hours.
The intensity of Chennai rains would increase from November 27, when the easterly wave would become active and Northeast Monsoon would revive. The combined effect of the duo would bring in good spells of rain for the city. Isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out. In fact, we can say that this will be the first good spell for the capital city in the month of November.
Not only Chennai, but many other areas in North- Coastal and Interior Tamil Nadu would observe good rain and thundershower activities during this period. These rains would continue until November 29.
