After recording maiden spell of pre-Monsoon rains on Tuesday, Chennai is all set to witness another spell of rain and thundershowers on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, thundershowers had commenced over Chennai during the evening hours and by 9 pm, the state capital started recording light rain. The rainy spell continued till late night hours, paving for pleasant weather conditions.
Now also, weather conditions remain conducive for more pre-Monsoon activities over the city for today evening as well.
According to Skymet Weather, the trough running from Coastal Odisha till South Tamil Nadu continues to persist over the region. In wake of this, humid winds from Bay of Bengal have been blowing over Chennai.
“With high levels of humidity and cloudy weather, intense thunderclouds are likely to develop over Chennai during the latter part of the day. Rains, thundershowers or thunderstorm are likely to appear thereafter,” said Mahesh Palawat, Chief Meteorologist, Skymet Weather.
Weathermen predict chances are there for weather activity along with squally winds to continue till Thursday.
These long-awaited rains have put an end to month-long dry spell over Chennai. Though Chennai does not record much rainfall during pre-Monsoon season but this year, rains have remained exceptionally less.
