Weather of Chennai has remained dry since last many days. Now, weather conditions are becoming favourable for the fresh spell of rain, bring this prolonged dry spell to an end.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the low pressure area in west-central Bay of Bengal, which is the remnant of Cyclone Kyant, has reached near south Andhra Pradesh coast.

In wake of this, several districts of North Tamil Nadu including Chennai have been already witnessing cloudy to overcast sky.
We can expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the evening hours of Friday. These showers are likely to continue for another 24 to 48 hours.

This spell of rain is likely to pave way for the onset of Northeast Monsoon, which has already been delayed. So far in October, Chennai has been rain deficit by 90%.

The city that records more than 60% of its annual rainfall during this Monsoon season, has not recorded any significant rains till now. Although scattered are going on over parts of Tamil Nadu but many Chennai and nearby areas of North Tamil Nadu have been experiencing dry and sultry weather conditions.

However, weathermen predict that November will fare better and rains will pick up pace.
