Since October 28, on and off rainfall activity is going on over the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. In fact, during the last 24 hours also, both the observatories in Chennai recorded light rains.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Nungambakkam recorded 0.1 mm of rain and Minambakkam recorded 0.6 mm.

Now we expect partly cloud weather to continue over Chennai until this weekend. Therefore, isolated light to very light rainfall cannot be ruled out during this period. However, we expect rains to increase over Chennai between November 12 and 14. During that time on and off moderate showers with heavy spells are also possible.

These rains will be due to the formation of low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal. This weather system will move towards Tamil Nadu coast and may intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area. Both day and night temperatures will also drop.

As of now it seems that intensity of rains will be good during that time and it may also lead to water logging in some parts of the city. Skymet Weather services will keep you updated about the spread and intensity of rains over Chennai during that time period.
