The city of Chennai has seen a very good November so far wherein the Nungambakkam observatory has already surpassed the monthly mean in the first ten days itself. Normal rains for November stands at 373.6 mm and the city has already recorded 428 mm so far. In the last 24 hours also Nungambakkam recorded 63 mm of rains.
The Low Pressure area has already become a well marked low pressure area. Thus, rains will be seen over Chennai for the next two days. Even the interiors of Tamil Nadu may see heavier showers. During the evening and night, rains will be even heavier.
Some three digit rains possible in the next 24 hours. Heavy rains are likely even tomorrow. Flooding rains, disrupting normal services and inundating low lying areas likely during this period. Coastline between Nagapattinam and Chennai will be at risk of inclement and hazardous weather conditions, including high speed winds and lightning strikes.
