Despite the onset of Southwest Monsoon along the West Coast and most southern states, rains remained far and few over North Tamil Nadu including Chennai. However, according to Skymet Weather, light to moderate rains are likely to show up over Chennai in the next 24 hours.
All thanks to the presence of a trough that extends along the East Coast. In wake of this, humid winds will reach over the region, which thereby result in the formation of convective clouds over the city.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the trough is likely to persist for another 24 hours, which will keep the weather conditions favorable for rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and North Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
Besides this, day temperatures may also subside by 3 to 4 degrees, thus a sign of relief can be expected over the city from the ongoing hot weather conditions.
