Chennai has been seeing good rains since the beginning of the month of November. So far, the Nungambakkam observatory has recorded 362 mm of rains which is just 12 mm short of the average rains which is at 374 mm.
The city of Chennai is expected to see light rains with one odd moderate rains both today and tomorrow. However, thereafter, the city is expected to see heavier rains.
Heavy rains will be starting day after tomorrow. These showers will be prolonged, with only short breaks in between. Rains will be at their peak on November 11, reducing a little on 12th and then reducing even further on November 13.
The city is expected to exceed its monthly normal in the next couple of days itself.
These upcoming rains are to occur due to a low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal. The system is currently located off Tamil Nadu coast is expected to strengthen and move westward, closer to North Sri Lanka and South Tamil Nadu coast in the next 24 hours.
