The city of Chennai has been witnessing rainfall activities in many areas for the past few days. There have been isolated pockets of Chennai which have observed heavy rainfall as well. In fact, the Minambakkam observatory saw hefty showers of 69 mm on October 17 and 60 mm of rainfall on October 19.
The last 24 hours were also rainy enough for the city of Chennai with some parts observing moderate rainfall while other seeing light showers.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Minambakkam observatory recorded 15 mm of rains however, Nungambakkam had to settle for a mere 1 mm of rainfall.
At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu Coast. Due to the presence of this system, light to moderate rainfall activity is expected to continue over the city of Chennai.
Thereafter, rains will take a backseat and only isolated light rains will be seen over some parts. Rains may take a break in between and may take a front seat at around October 25 wherein light showers will be seen in some parts.
Presently, the maximum temperature which is in the range of 31-33 degrees Celsius will see a marginal increase while the minimums will be between 23-24 degrees.
