Rain Chennai post

The Gateway to South India, Chennai had been reeling under dry and sultry weather conditions since past many days. However traces or light rain have been making appearances over the region on a few occasions.

The last 24 hours were also of not much difference over the region and in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Meenambakkam Observatory in Chennai observed a mere 0.5 mm of rains, while Nungambakkam Observatory recorded traces of rainfall.

Other areas of Tamil Nadu that recorded some rains of light intensity include Kodaikanal 3 mm, Dharmapuri 2 mm and Tirupathi 1 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, due to surging maximums and high humidity, local clouds had developed over the city that led to light rain activity.

Weathermen expect scattered rains with few moderate spells over the city for the next two to three days. The reason behind these rains could be a feeble cyclonic circulation that is most likely to develop from North Bay of Bengal to Tamil Nadu Coast.

While morning and nights will remain comfortable, days will be warm with maximum temperatures settling around 32-33 degrees and minimum temperatures near 25-26 degrees.

Scattered showers with partly cloudy to cloudy sky will bring some much needed relief to the Chennaites form the ongoing sultry weather.

As of today, the state of Tamil Nadu is rain surplus by 45 percent and Chennai by 9 percent.
