Chennai rains to begin soon

December 7, 2016 11:53 AM | Skymet Weather Team

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Chennai is all set to witness another spell of rains and thundershowers. Rain bearing clouds have been engulfing entire city since morning and rains are likely to commence any time soon. However, rains will be patchy in nature.

According to weathermen, this change in weather can be attributed to the fresh weather system in Southeast Bay of Bengal. The system is presently seen as a depression and is moving in northwest direction at a speed of 10 kmph.

Though, the system is far away from the Tamil Nadu coast but it has been infusing moisture over the coastal parts of state including Chennai.

Chennai has been witnessing dry weather conditions, post the departure of Cyclone Nada last week. The system had given heavy rainfall over the city which has been highly rain deficit this Northeast Monsoon season.
