Chennai has been experiencing dry and sultry weather for the past many days. Chennai’s average rain for the month of January stands at 25.9 mm.

However, this year, the city has received very light rain to the tune of 2.2 mm during the entire month. These light rainy spells occurred on January 9 and 10. Thus, with almost no rain, January turned out to be the driest months in recent years.
Both the minimum and maximum temperatures have been settling marginally below normal over the city. A present, the weather during the day is warm and dry. However, the nights are comfortable. As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that the maximums and minimums would increase marginally. However, a significant increase is not anticipated.

Now, good news awaits the residents of Tamil Nadu as rains are all set to make an appearance. As per weathermen, a trough is likely to form across the south and central coast of Tamil Nadu. In wake of this weather system, scattered rain is likely to occur over the southern and central districts of the state.
In fact, good news awaits Chennaiites also, as isolated rain may also occur over Chennai on February 6. However, the intensity of rain will be very light and will be restricted to a few locations only.
The sky will become partly cloudy to cloudy leading to decrease in day temperature, but it will not be significant. Therefore, only marginal relief is anticipated from the ongoing sultry weather over Chennai.
