Chennai rains were on a back seat for the past many days. In fact, after a long dry spell of nearly ten days, Chennai rains appeared during the past day.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Nungambakkam observatory of Chennai recorded moderate intensity rain to the tune of 23 mm. In the same time frame, Minambakkam observatory recorded 15 mm of rain.
As per Skymet Weather, these Monsoon rains can be attributed trough which is extending from the northeastern states to North Tamil Nadu Coast.
We expect few spells of Monsoon rain and thundershower in various locations of Chennai and adjoining regions to continue. These rainfall activities are likely to continue over another 24 to 48 hours. However, the showers will not be continuous and would occur in patches.
With the occurrence of these rains, there is a marginal relief from the hot and sultry weather. Temperatures have witnessed a marginal drop. In fact, the temperatures would continue to settle a few notches below.
The maximum temperatures are likely to settle between 35°C and 37°C. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures would range between 25°C and 27°C. The sky conditions would remain mainly partly cloudy to cloudy during the next 24 to hours.
