During the month of February, until now, the capital city of Tamil Nadu has remained as dry as a bone. Not even a mm of rainfall has been witnessed over the city. Not only this, usually also, Chennai does not receive much rain during February.
The monthly average for Chennai in February in terms of rains happens to be a mere 2.2 mm. Last year, the city had not received any rainfall and remained dry throughout the month.
However, rain gods have decided to bestow some kindness over the residents of Chennai. Some rainfall is expected over the city tonight as well as early hours of tomorrow.
These rains will be attributed to the development of a feeble trough extending from South Coastal Andhra Pradesh up to Tamil Nadu. However, the upcoming rainy spell is expected to be light in nature and the possibility of heavy showers over the city has been ruled out completely. These rains may result in a slight dip in the prevailing temperatures.
