The month of September has proved to be constructive for the city of Chennai that has witnessed good rains during Southwest Monsoon, it seems that the month of October will also follow the footprints of the previous month.
October began on a rainy note for the city and with just a single dry day until now, rains have been blessing the so-called ‘Gateway of South India’. Within the last 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Tuesday, Chennai’s Nungambakkam Observatory recorded a whopping 43 mm of rains.
The other regions of the state that have recorded rains during the similar time frame include Tiruttani that recorded 13 mm of rains, Parangipettai 6 mm, and Dharmapuri with 2 mm of light rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a feeble trough is seen extending from North Tamil Nadu coast to Sri Lanka that resulted in these good rains. As of now also, light to moderate rains are expected to continue in Chennai for the next 24-48 hours.
Along with the state capital, the districts of North and interior Tamil Nadu will also continue to witness rains. Thus, the stations such as Salem, Vellore, Tirupattur, and Dharmapuri are expected to continue observing rains. However, the districts of South Tamil Nadu such as Tondi, Atiramapattinam, Thanjavur, and Madurai are likely to remain mainly dry for the next 48 hours.

Thereafter, the weather will become partly cloudy to cloudy but rain intensity will reduce significantly. Despite this isolated light spells are still anticipated to continue over the city. However, the weather will remain warm and the day will be humid.
Thus, after the next 48 hours, not much relief is expected from the ongoing warm and humid weather conditions.
