Chennai rains have become the talk of the town as non-stop downpours continue to lash the capital city of Tamil Nadu. So much so that the city has been witnessing heavy to very heavy showers for the past four days.
What began as a freak weather incident on October 30 wherein the city recorded a whopping 169 mm of rainfall.

These rains did reduce slightly and a day before, Chennai did record 41 mm of rainfall for two consecutive days. However, these showers increased by manifold during the past 24 hours and the city witnessed a whopping 183 mm of rainfall.

So far, if the rainfall figures for the first three days are to be added, the city of Chennai has already recorded a whopping 265 mm of rainfall. The monthly rainfall figures for Chennai during the month of November stand at 374.4 mm.

Thus, the city of Chennai has already recorded more than 70 percent of its monthly rains in a matter of three days. The weathermen expect heavy rains to continue for at least three days now which means it is highly likely that Chennai may be able to surpass its monthly rains in the first five days itself.
