Chennai likely to miss out on the pre-Monsoon activities in Tamil Nadu

May 11, 2016 6:48 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since the last 2-3 days, scattered light to moderate rains are going on over interior parts of Tamil Nadu. During the last 24 hours the state has received light to moderate rain and thundershower.

At present, a wind discontinuity is running from Vidarbha to Tamil Nadu. And along this line of discontinuity, humid winds from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are increasing the moisture in the interior parts of the state.

Skymet Weather predicts that this situation will continue till May 13.

Thereafter, the rainfall activity will reduce significantly. However, isolated pockets of the state will continue to get light thunderstorm or in some cases thundershower activities. Though, the coastal areas will remain almost dry including the capital city – Chennai. But isolated thunderstorm or light thundershower activity cannot be ruled out over Chennai.

Despite one or two isolated thundery activity the weather over Chennai will remain warm and humid. And if there is any rain it will increase the discomfort level.

In the last 24 hours, these are the rainfall figures across the state.
