This year Southwest Monsoon over Tamil Nadu has been very generous and till date, the state has received excess rain of 30 percent. The region has been receiving continuous on and off Monsoon showers of varied intensity. During the last 24 hours also moderate spells occurred over many places and heavy at a few places over the region.
The state capital Chennai has also witnessed some good showers which have made the weather pleasant. In the past day, mainly North interior parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed good rainfall activities while the remaining regions also witnessed scattered light rains. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Tipupattur and Kodaikanal received heavy rain of 46 mm and Tirupathi 36 mm of rain.

In the same span of time, Tiruttani witnessed moderate rain of 30 mm and Arogyavaram 31 mm of rain. Meanwhile, K.Paramathy recorded 7 mm of light intensity rain, even the capital city Chennai recorded light rain of 6 mm. these widespread rains can be attributed to the persistence of feeble trough which is running across South Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu.

As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that light to moderate intensity rain will continue over northern parts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days. Thereafter, the intensity of rains may increase once again by August 29. The temperatures are normal across the state and weather conditions are comfortable due to these good Monsoon showers.
