As per Skymet, this is likely to be the last spell of Northeast Monsoon rain in the region. Mainly partly cloudy sky conditions will prevail over Chennai and adjoining areas. Interior and coastal South Tamil Nadu will receive more rain in comparison to the northern parts of the country.

Kanyakumari started receiving heavy showers at about 3.30 pm and recorded 64 mm of rainfall in just 3 hours. Tuticorin received very heavy showers. In a span 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Tuticorin has received 116 mm of rain.
