Chennai rains have been far away and the city has remained dry for quite some time now. Due to the absence of any significant weather system, the state capital has been witnessing dry and warm weather conditions for a long time. The last time trace of rainfall was recorded over Chennai was on January 1.
Rainy days have been absent from the capital city of Karnataka as well. Bengaluru has been witnessing dry weather conditions since long. In fact, the city has not observed even a drop of rain since the beginning of the year 2017.
However, now things are about to take a fortunate turn and weather gods are about to bestow some kindness over both these South Indian state capitals. Light to moderate rains are likely over many parts of South India between January 26 and 28.
These weather conditions will be attributed to the trough which is currently over South Bay of Bengal. Moisture incursion will increase over the south Indian states during the aforementioned days. Not only this, the easterly wave will also become more prominent which will result in some rainfall activity over the region.
While Chennai will witness rainy days on January 26 and 27, Bengaluru will receive rains on January 27 as well as on January 28. Thereafter, weather will once again become dry over these cities.
