Most parts of Gujarat have been experiencing hot and uneasy weather conditions since last many days. Moreover, the day temperatures were above by 3°C to 4°C over most places and night temperatures were above normal by 2°C to 3°C. During the last 48 hours, a gradual fall was seen in day temperatures due to the change in wind direction.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Ahmedabad recorded its maximum temperature at 34.4°C, Amreli 35.9°C, Bhuj 34.4°C, Idar 35.5°C, Kandla 38.1°C, Rajkot 34.0°C, Surat 35.0°C, Bhavnagar 33.2°C, Deesa 34.3°C, Baroda 34.6°C, Naliya 31.0°C, Porbandar 31.6°C, Veraval 29.1°C, Dwarka 27.3°C and Okha 27.6°C.
However, as the Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation which were persisting over Rajasthan and adjoining areas have moved away eastwards. Thus, warm easterly and south easterly winds are now replaced by dry and cool northerly winds. These cool winds are instrumental for dropping temperatures.
However, we expect northerly and northeasterly winds to continue over Gujarat for at least next 2 to 3 days. Thereafter, both day and night temperatures will remain near normal.
Around March 8 and March 9, temperatures are expected to rise once again leading to hot weather conditions over Gujarat.
