In the last 24 hours, parts of Maharashtra i.e. Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Konkan & Goa regions observed dry and very warm weather conditions. However, Nagpur in Vidarbha recorded trace of rain but it was not able to bring any relief from the heat. In fact, in few parts of Vidarbha, day temperatures even exceeded 40˚C causing heat wave like condition.
Yesterday, Parbhani recorded its maximum temperature at 42.1˚C, followed by Akola 41.7˚C, Chandrapur 41.4˚C, Brahmapuri 41.3˚C, Amravati 41.2˚C, Jalna 41.2˚C, Nanded 41˚C, Yeotmal 40.5˚C, Jalgaon 40.4˚C and Malegaon 40.2˚C.
Now at present, an upper air trough is passing in close proximity of Vidarbha. Due to the presence of this trough, isolated places will witness rain and thundershower activities with strong winds during the next 24 hours. Again, we would like to say that these showers would bring momentary relief only as these showers would take place during the latter part of the day.
Meanwhile, rest all parts of Maharashtra will continue with dry and hot weather conditions. The temperature pattern will be increasing gradually over the state from April 22, as dry and warm winds will be prevailing.
The capital city, Mumbai will also experience rise in temperature. Hence, very warm and humid weather conditions are expected to prevail over the city with clear sky. Surface wind speed will be light.
These dry weather conditions are likely to continue over most parts of Maharashtra during the next few days. Moreover, during the later parts of the coming week, heat wave conditions will also make a comeback over some parts of the state. These heat wave conditions will be dangerous for the crops.
