Chandigarh, Patiala, Ambala, Ludhiana, Hisar to get fresh spell of rain

Southwest Monsoon had poured good rains over Punjab and Haryana after the arrival of Southwest Monsoon. Both the states recorded moderate to heavy intensity rains. But after some time, the rain intensity reduced over both the states.

Once again these northern states have started receiving showers. As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is shifting northwards due to the presence of a Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir region.

It is anticipated that due to these weather systems rainfall activities are likely over both the states. Thundershower, moderate rain at, many places and heavy rains at few places can occur anytime over the region. These rains over Chandigarh, Ambala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Karnal, Hisar will continue for at least two days.

Rain and thundershower intensity is also likely to increase from July 31 as the prevailing Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir region is likely to move east northeastwards. Due to these widespread rain activities, it is expected that there will be a significant reduction in temperatures across Punjab and Haryana.

The rain intensity over Punjab may reduce after August 1 however northern parts of Haryana will continue receiving hefty rains. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Chandigarh witnessed very light rain of 1 mm and in Karnal and Ambala traces of rain was recorded.
