The weather conditions in Haryana are dry from the last many days. However, the northern districts of Punjab have been observing on and off light rainfall activity in the wake of Western Disturbances affecting the hills of North India.
Now a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayas which will induce a cyclonic circulation over parts of Rajasthan. Moreover, humid winds from Bay of Bengal will also reach up to parts of Punjab and Haryana.
Thus, in the wake of all these weather systems, we expect rains to increase gradually over Punjab and Haryana. Dust storm followed by thundershowers will occur over the northern districts of these states today.
On May 3 and 4, rain intensity and spread may increase leading to light rain and thundershower activities along with dust storm and thunderstorm over most parts of Punjab and Haryana. Heavy rain and hailstorm activity will be ruled out. Wind speed may increase for short duration over few parts.
By May 5, weather systems will move away and easterly flow of winds from Bay of Bengal will stop. Then due to the commencement of dry and hot north/northwesterly winds, the weather conditions in Punjab and Haryana will become almost dry and temperatures will start increasing again.
