Chandigarh, Amritsar, Pathankot, Karnal, Ambala witness rains today, more till 48 hrs

While, Monsoon has been lashing South India with heavy rains,  North India has remained dry. However, weather has now taken a u-turn and northwestern plains of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi have been witnessing rains and thundershowers since the wee hours of Friday. In fact, one or two districts of Punjab have even seen some heavy spells as well.

Punjab and Haryana have witnessed some light showers on Thursday. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, various districts of Punjab like Amritsar witnessed 10 mm of rains, Chandigarh 1.8 mm while the various other districts observed light traces of rains.

During the similar time frame, districts of Haryana like Narnaul recorded 15 mm of rains, Ambala 12.9 mm and Hissar recorded 3.6 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is running from Punjab to North Bay of Bengal across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation ca also be marked over the central parts of Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan.

In the wake of both weather systems, rains of light to moderate intensity occurred over the districts of Punjab and Haryana. Furthermore, these rain and thundershowers to the tune of light to moderate intensity are expected to continue over parts of both Punjab and Haryana for the next 24 to 48 hours as well.

Thus, districts like Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Karnal, Ambala, and Panchkula stands a chance to see good rains.

Squally winds can also add up to these rains. On account of these showers, maximums may further drop marginally making the morning and night comfortable. The mercury levels that had soared above 40°C in districts of Punjab like Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh and Haryana, are most likely to curtail down to settle below the 40-degree mark due to these recent rainy spells.
