The northwest plains of the country including Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan are all set to witness wet spells today evening onward. A Cyclonic Circulation is now lying over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan and a trough is extending from this system up to the foothills of Uttar Pradesh. The Cyclonic Circulation is likely to shift towards Haryana in the next 24 hours.
A fresh Western Disturbance is also seen lying over the central parts of Jammu and Kashmir as an upper air system. This weather system is likely to affect the hills of North India in 24 hours from now. However, clouding has already developed over Punjab, Haryana and hailstorm is a possibility over some parts in Punjab and North Rajasthan on February 26. The activities over the northwestern plains of the country would begin by today evening. The state of Punjab would witness light rain and thundershower accompanied with strong winds gusting up to 40 kmph.
Southwestern parts of Uttar Pradesh like Agra, Aligarh including Lucknow and Kanpur have already started observing light rain and thundershower since yesterday due to moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea. In the coming 24 hours, the northwest and several parts of West Uttar Pradesh might receive light rain and thundershower activities. Places like Muzzafarnagar, Saharanpur, Moradabad would start witnessing rain and thundershower activities today evening onward. The southern part of Uttar Pradesh like Ghaziabad, Meerut and Shahjahanpur would witness a wet spell on February 26.
The day temperatures over northwest plains of the country would rise today because of moist and warm southeasterlies. Places like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Karnal, Ambala, Hisar, Panchkula, Sri Ganganagar, Deesa, Dholpur and Alwar would witness wet spells today evening, which would last up to February 27.
