Fog is slowly tightening its grip across the country. From north to Northeast India, many places recorded dense to very dense fog, early in the morning today. Punjab is the pocket where fog has become a regular feature after the Western Disturbance gave rain on December 13 and December 14.
At 6 am, Amritsar was observing very dense fog with visibility dropping to nil. The state capital Chandigarh was also observing similar conditions as the visibility in the city had dropped to 100 meters due to dense fog. Up in the hills Jammu also recorded very dense fog.
Another place where dense fog was witnessed is Agartala, where visibility had come down to 100 meters. The city is one among the few places that has been observing fog since the winters began in November.
The national capital Delhi also witnessed very dense fog with visibility coming down to 50 meters. The minimum temperature also settled at 6 degrees at 7 am.

Meanwhile, fog lead to some delays in train and flight schedules. The arrival and departure of about 11 flights were delayed form the Palam airport. Rail traffic was also affected with Purushottam express running late by 3.50 minutes, Mahabodhi 7 hours, Udyanabha Tofan express 5 hours and Malwa express 3.50 minutes.
