Due to the absence of rain for a span of few days in August the temperature levels were on a hike but now the weather has become pleasant across the states. As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the Western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. The easterly winds were also prevailing above the region which led to the formation of thunderclouds and eventually rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Chandigarh recorded extremely heavy rain of 115.2 mm and Ambala 77.9 mm of rain. Rohtak also recorded moderate rain of 21.3 mm. In the same span of time, Ludhiana recorded 11.2 mm of rain and Kapurthala 20 mm of moderate rain. Bhatinda also witnessed light intensity rain to the tune of 1 mm of rain.

It is anticipated that the rainfall activities will continue over the states but will occur in patches for the next 24 hours. The intensity of rains will be light to moderate in intensity. The low-pressure area over Gujarat has weakened and the western arm of the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to shift northwards close to Delhi and result in rains. It may be likely that the isolated parts may also receive short spell showers.
