The maximum temperature recorded at the Safdarjung Observatory in Delhi on Friday was 27.6°C, According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, day temperatures in the national capital might reach 28°C by tomorrow.

The minimum temperature also showed a marginal rise and settled at 13°C today morning. There are some high clouds in Delhi and the sky will be partly cloudy tomorrow evening. On Choti Holi, when northern parts of India will burn Holika, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of light rain in Delhi/NCR.

The festival of colours gets its name from the ritual of Holika Dahan. This ritual takes place on the eve of Holi when people create a bonfire to burn Holika with an objective to destroy demonic forces and celebrate the triumph of good over evil.

People start preparing for the bonfire by gathering twigs, logs of woods and dry leaves many days before Holi. On the auspicious occasion of Phalgun Purnima the bonfire is set alight and people smear the ashes of the fire, all over the body, next morning before bathing.

Delhi will remain on the fringes of a fresh Western Disturbance which has already reached Jammu and adjoining areas. The weather system might bring some rain in Delhi.
