Central India to receive scattered rain

There are chances of scattered rain over North and Central Madhya Pradesh on the 29th or 30th of December. A fairly good Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from the 28th of December. The system will affect weather in terms of clouding, rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This fresh Western Disturbance will also bring isolated rain and thundershowers in Delhi and adjoining northwest plains. A trough of this system will travel up to Central India.

Generally Western Disturbances after affecting the northern plains travels eastward right up to Arunachal Pradesh. Though tracking of WDs become difficult in uneven terrains due to paucity of observation, experts at Skymet Weather predict that the fresh WDs on the 28th will definitely travel up to East India. The places lying above 25 degrees North Latitude will be affected in view of this system.

The cities of Gwalior, Guna, Sagar and Datia will be among the affected areas. The sky will remain cloudy to partly cloudy over these regions. Subsequently, the day temperatures will come down by a couple of degrees. The prevailing north easterly winds will be replaced by south easterlies, leading to an increase in the minimum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees. The diurnal variation of temperature will be less and cold day like conditions will prevail throughout the day.

The system is expected to cause clouding and pull down maximum temperature by few notches. Our weather experts at Skymet predict that night temperatures may increase by at least 2 degrees in Punjab and Haryana.
