After experiencing inclement weather including hailstorm and sudden rain in last two weeks, parts of Maharashtra are now bracing for blistering heat of the summer as maximum temperature in several parts of the state is settling in lower 40s.
While the dark clouds and rain in past few weeks dropped the maximum temperature to 37°C -39°C, forcing the temperature to settle below normal by 4-5 degrees, the northern winds blowing from desert areas of Rajasthan and other parts are making the temperatures increase steadily and settle at 40°C and above.
Due to clear sunlight in last few days, both day and night temperatures are scaling steadily in parts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. According to Skymet, the trend will persist for another three days after which some respite from the sweltering heat is expected.
For instance, places in Maharashtra that are observing above normal temperature includeNashikwith day temperature of 40.6°C (3 degrees above normal),Nagpur 43.2°C (2 degrees above normal,Solapur41°C andWardha43.2°C, both one degree above normal.Bhopalin Madhya Pradesh too is witnessing maximum temperature settling at 41.8°C, 3 degrees above normal.
However, 25thApril onwards, brief relief is expected in Central India including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar and Jharkhand as a trough of low pressure is expected to reach up to these areas from South Karnataka and give light to moderate rain for 3-4 days.
