Dense to very dense fog has been shrouding central and eastern parts of the country from last few days. Though weather on early morning today was clear and remained fog-free.

Reason for a fog free sky can be attributed to the dry and cold northwesterly winds that were blowing over these areas. These winds have resulted in curtailing the prevailing fog intensity.

As per Skymet Weather, now, weather conditions are favorable for some scattered light rain and thundershower activities particularly over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.

As per the weatherman, a Cyclonic circulation is seen over northwest Madhya Pradesh. In the wake of this weather system, light rains have occurred over the eastern parts of the country that includes East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar along with parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

In last 24 hours, from 08:30 am as on Monday, parts of Bihar including Gaya recorded 2.4 mm of rains and Muzaffarpur 3 mm. While Seoni in Madhya Pradesh observed 16.8 mm of showers followed by Umaria that measured 10.2 mm rains.  During the similar time frame, Bokaro in Jharkhand observed light showers of 5.4 mm and Daltonganj 13.4 mm.

At present, this Cyclonic Circulation is seen moving towards the east and therefore rains are expected to continue over Jharkhand, East Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the eastern part of the country will witness a deduction in the downpour.

Moreover, minimum temperatures prevailing in these areas are also expected to reduce by two to three degrees within next 48 hours and a marginal rise in the maximum temperature is also likely.

Hence, it can be said that the states of Northeast Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand witnessed their first winter rains.
