The series-opener of the Carlton Mid ODI tri-series will be played between Australia and England at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 16, 2015. While hosts Australia look favourites to win the tournament, India and England will also fancy their chances in the shorter format. India will play their first match of the tournament against Australia on January 18 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The men in blue will surely look to avenge the 2-0 Test defeat under the leadership of captain cool MS Dhoni.
The weather forecast for the opener at Sydney points towards passing showers which may or may not cause delay. The maximum temperature is expected to be 28°C while the minimum is expected to stay at 21°C. As for the second game of the tri-series, which will be played in Melbourne, cloudy conditions with little or no rain are expected. The temperature is expected to stay at 21°C (maximum) and 14°C (minimum).
The third game of the tournament will be played on January 20, between England and India, at Brisbane. Weather forecast for the third game suggests good chances of showers with the temperature being 28°C (maximum) and 22°C (minimum). The mathematical genius of Mr. Duckworth and Mr. Lewis may come into play as both Morgan and Dhoni will keep a close watch on the D/L scoring sheet.
The series is being seen as a warm-up tournament ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015 which kicks off in Australia from February 14. The tri-series, placed just a few weeks ahead of the World Cup, will help the two visiting sides India and England understand the Aussie conditions better. Moreover, it will allow the three sides to gain some valuable momentum ahead of the World Cup. Skymet will keep you updated on weather, cricket, and more as the tournament kicks off!
