Bright Christmas Everywhere, Hills Remain Exception

Christmas and New Year, yearend celebratory occasions, always seek support of weather to keep the festive spirit live. Both the festivals, being placed around the coldest time of the year, remain at the mercy of weather god. While the mountainous resorts pray and wish for live snow, the plains prefer to draw invocations for pleasant weather conditions. Both the wishes are expected to get fulfilled this season without curtailing the excitement.

Western disturbance moving across extreme northern parts will cause scattered rain and snow in the mid and higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Limited weather activity will remain confined to the mountains and may stretch along the foothills at few places of Punjab and Haryana.  Dry circulation prevailing over Rajasthan will remain inconsequential for any weather activity in the plains of North, East and Central India. No excruciating cold conditions are expected and light breeze will keep the chilly pinch under check, even around open places. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal will experience pleasantly warm days and sheepish cold nights.

Northeast monsoon continue to remain inactive and will therefore keep the festive activities safe from any inclement weather conditions.  Coastal stations on either shore will have the luxury of soothing weather conditions, without any rain and cold  breeze. Interior parts of Peninsular India will be slightly warm during the forenoon and afternoon hours, but turning pleasant during the night.

Feeble cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and neighborhood will bear partly cloudy sky at few places over Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Assam valley and Nagaland will mostly stay free from any significant weather activity. Parts of Arunachal Pradesh may receive some rain and snow during the late hours of the day. Festivities will  remain unhindered over islands of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar.
