Break monsoon condition approaching, northwest and Central India to go dry

At present Northwest India particularly, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west UP and northwest Rajasthan are observing almost dry weather conditions.

The axis of monsoon trough was running south of Delhi via central parts of the country. Low pressure area is also persisting over north Madhya Pradesh. As these weather parameters are over Central India that is why monsoon over northern Plains is subdued. Heavy to very heavy flooding rain has been going on over Madhya Pradesh and Eastern part of Rajasthan for quite some time now.

As per weathermen, the low-pressure area will weaken in next 24 hours and axis of monsoon trough will start moving north. In the transition phase of monsoon trough, scattered light to moderate rains is possible over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh until August 10. Thereafter, monsoon trough will shift to the foothills of Himalayas. Easterly humid winds will be replaced by dry westerly winds. And whether will go dry once again over entire Northwest and most parts of Central India. But eastern and of axis of monsoon trough will be at its normal position or slightly south of normal. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is also expected to develop over Bihar and adjoining area. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, part of Odisha and isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh may continue to get rain and thunder shower activities.

Break monsoon condition is expected to continue until August 15 or 16. Between August 10 and 15, weather of Northwest India is expected to go dry. However, during this period foothills of Himalayas will get torrential rains leading to mudslide and landslide. Foothills of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh may get moderate to heavy showers.
