The Low-Pressure Area over the central parts of the country is responsible for giving heavy rains in Vidarbha during the last 24 hours. With 104 mm rains, Bramhapuri in Vidarbha has been observed as the rainiest place in the country on Monday. As the weather system continues to persist, a few moderate spells are expected in Vidarbha today as well.
Parts of Konkan and Goa too have observed moderate spells of rain, wherein Ahmednagar recorded 36 mm of rain, followed by Harnai 15 mm and Mahabaleshwar 14 mm in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the intensity remained light in Mumbai, Dahanu and Thane, whereas Marathwada observed almost dry weather conditions with isolated light rains.
According to our meteorologists, Monsoon would remain subdued in Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan and Goa today. However, due to the active Monsoon conditions, Vidarbha will continue to get a few moderate spells for the next 24 hours. By tomorrow, the Monsoon would become weak here as well and almost dry weather conditions with isolated light rains would be seen.
Mumbai rains will continue with light intensity until August 28. Thereafter, a marginal increase in the rainfall activity is likely as one or two moderate spells may lash the city. However, the threat of water-logging or flash flood is ruled out.
The city of Pune will observe almost dry weather with isolated light rains during the coming days as well.
Another spell of rain may commence over the Vidarbha region around August 29, in the wake of a fresh Low-Pressure Area over the Bay of Bengal. This system too would move in the westerly direction, thus bringing in moderate spells to Vidarbha as well as Konkan and Goa. However, during this period, the weather of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra will remain almost dry with isolated light rains.
