Blistering Bangalore may witness thunderstorms

Blistering Bangalore may receive thunderstormExtremely hot weather conditions continue to make life miserable for residents of Bangalore. The city has been observing above normal temperatures for quite some time now. So much so that Bangalore recorded its highest maximum in a decade on April 17 at 37.8 degree Celsius.

While temperatures have not crossed the 38-degree mark yet, maximums continue to be well above average levels. The last time the city received any rain was on April 7 and that too a mere 0.3 mm. Since then Bangalore remains rain hungry as temperatures are only increasing each day.

At present, a cyclonic circulation can be seen over North Interior Karnataka. Also, a trough is extending up to Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka. The combined effect of these systems may receive some thunderstorm activity during the next 48 hours.

Currently, moist winds from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are reaching South Interior Karnataka including Bangalore, Mysore and its neighbouring areas. Due to increase in moisture, conditions have become favourable for the development of thundery clouds over the region.

Thus, there are chances of Bangalore receiving light thunderstorm activity during the next two days. Also, while most of the times these clouds only result in light thunderstorm activity, sometimes, these events sometimes result in light rain as well.
