Biting Cold Grips North, Rain is Expected Soon

January 5, 2024 4:29 PM |

Brace yourselves, folks, the bite of winter isn't done yet! Yesterday, on January 4th, many states in Northwest and Central India shivered under "cold day" and "severe cold day" conditions, with temperatures plummeting and sunshine struggling to break through the thick fog blanket.

Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh saw the mercury dip between 10 and 13°C, with maximum temperatures falling several degrees below normal. This icy grip was intensified by the widespread fog that smothered the Indo-Gangetic plains, acting like a stubborn shawl blocking the sun's warmth. But fret not, the shivering spell is expected to loosen its hold after the next 24 hours. As the fog gets thinner, some sunshine will sneak through, offering a much-needed respite. However, this isn't the end of the winter saga.

Hold onto your umbrellas, because rain is in the forecast! Light to moderate showers are expected across parts of North Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on January 8th. By January 10th, the rain clouds will pirouette further westward, gracing West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, and even parts of Punjab with their liquid blessings. The hills of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand can also expect a rain-kissed January.

While the intensity of the rain won't be enough to cause floods, it will serve as a welcome change from the bone-chilling cold. By January 11th, the skies are predicted to finally clear, ushering in a more pleasant phase.

So, bundle up for one more day, stock up on hot chai, and keep the rain gear handy. Remember, this winter, like all others, will pass. And when the sun finally shines bright, the joy of a warm embrace will be all the sweeter.
