The state of Bihar has been experiencing hot and dry weather conditions lately, with mercury not budging from the 40 degrees Celsius mark. Yesterday, many places in Bihar saw the maximum settle close to 40℃, wherein Chapra recorded its day maximum at 42.2℃. In the state capital Patna and Bhagalpur the day temperature settled at 41.6℃ and 40℃, respectively.

On the contrary, light rains were reported in the northeastern districts of the state such as Purnea and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hours. In the coming 2-3 days (Around June 24), the state would observe intense showers in Central and North Bihar. We expect monsoon to reach eastern parts of Bihar in the next two to three days.

Light rain in the region is a result of a Cyclonic Circulation over Southwest Bihar and its adjoining area. A Low Pressure Area in The Bay of Bengal and a Trough extending from Bihar up to Northwest Bay of Bengal have also played an important role in changing the weather of the state.

According to Skymet , the strong weather systems are expected to persist for some more time due to which scattered rains are expected to cover northern and northeastern districts of Bihar. These activities would continue until June 23. Thereafter, the rain intensity will increase and moderate to heavy rains are expected to occur along the foothills of Bihar around June 24. These rains would bring about a significant drop in the day temperatures, thus abating heat wave like conditions from the entire state.

On the other hand, light rains would continue in the southern districts of the state. By June 26 and 27, the entire state would start receiving good rains.

Places such as Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea and Bhagalpur would observe intense rains during the forecast period.
