Bihar records light Monsoon rain, to intensify further

Bihar has been recording scattered light Monsoon rains for the last few days and last 24 hours were no different. Now as we proceed further, the intensity of rains is all set to increase over the eastern state.

According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Vidarbha and adjoining region. Due to this, humid easterly and southeasterly winds are blowing over Bihar from Bay of Bengal.

In wake of this, we can expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers over several parts of the state. The activity is likely to continue for at least next 2-3 days. However, intensity of rain will be more over North Bihar that is located in the foothills of Himalayas as compared to the rest of the regions.

The reason behind this is the fact that when moist winds travel up to northern region of the state, they get obstructed with the hills. This makes North Bihar more prone to the rain activity than other areas.

Ever since the beginning of the Southwest Monsoon, Bihar has been rain deficient. In fact, it is the most deficit pocket in East India.

As on September 16, the cumulative seasonal rainfall deficiency for the rain stands at 12%. With some rains in offing, we can expect the situation to improve up to some extent and we could register a drop in the rainfall deficiency.
