The eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand have been witnessing rain and thundershowers since the last 24 hours. Weather activities were more over parts of Bihar as compared to Jharkhand. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Daltonganj recorded 5 mm of rain, followed by Gaya 0.5 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation is over West Madhya Pradesh, while another cyclonic circulation is present over Northeast Madhya Pradesh. A trough from these two systems is extending up to North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal across Jharkhand.
Therefore, now during the coming two days also we expect the same scenario to continue. Light to moderate rains with heavy spells in parts accompanied with gusty winds and lightning strike are expected over most parts of Bihar along with isolated pockets of Jharkhand.
However, weather activities will more tomorrow and further by February 28, as the weather system will move further eastwards, rains over East India including Bihar and Jharkhand will also reduce significantly by the later hours of the day.
Since the beginning of January both Bihar and Jharkhand were rain deficient in the wake of poor rains. But further, by mid-February, with few spells of rain and thundershowers, Bihar turned surplus. Meanwhile, Jharkhand still continued to remain deficient.
