Bihar, Jharkhand get winter’s first rainfall, mercury to go down

A cyclonic circulation is persisting over Bihar and adjoining areas. Scattered rain has already occurred over parts of Bihar, North Chhattisgarh, and adjoining areas of Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

Daltonganj in Jharkhand has received 15 mm of rainfall.

Now we expect this cyclonic circulation to persist and light to moderate rainfall at many places is expected over Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh and at a few places over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

This rainy spell will be the first good rainy spell over these areas during this winter season; dry weather persisted for last few months.

Dry and cold winds from northwest will meet with warm and humid winds from East & Southeast direction and this will give rise to cloud formation; some convective clouds are also possible leading to some thundershower activity.

The ongoing dense to very dense fog will thin down due to rain and we expect day temperatures to fall by 2-3°C over Chhattisgarh and North Madhya Pradesh, but maximum temperatures of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were already running below normal due to persisting fog.
